The 26th Korean Harvest Festival
Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, by the Unisphere, Queens, NY [site]

Tada! I decided to hang out with a friend today and he told me about a Korean Festival going on at the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Chuseok(추석) is a harvest festival that takes place on August 15th on the Lunar calendar (like the Mid-Autumn Festival in China!), but I think the New York Harvest Festival tends to take place on the last weekend of September every year.

The festival even came with it’s own folk marching band! It looks like traditional Korean musical instruments, not that I can play any, but I heard that the leader of the group (the man with the trumpet) is a teacher and you can learn if you want to.
Being me, the first thing I decided to look at was… the food!

They all look so good, I wasn’t sure what to get (well, I wasn’t so sure about the marinated hands touching the Kalbi =P) and I was somewhat afraid that maybe they might not understand English (a lot of signs was just in Korean). So I decided to browse some more.

So after a good analysis, I finally decided on… this!

Can you tell what it is? It’s a big blurry… so here’s another pic of it:

That’s right, it’s the Bulgogi Hotdog! Well, actually, I got the Bulgogi Bun (my friend got the Bulgogi Hotdog, Bun is without the dog). I have to say, turning bulgogi into a finger food was a very good idea. And if you had gotten the hotdog, the frank is huge! I guess it’s worth its $5. It is good, tasty and definitely something new (in New York anyways). I actually took their menu before I left. It’s the New York Hotdog & Coffee, located at 245 Bleecker Street in Manhattan.
So much food, such a little stomach…
