Ting and 媽咪’s Birthday Celebration

November 28, 2008 Leave a comment

I know it’s been a while and I’ve been MIA, but I guess late is better than never. Sorry ^_^. So without further ado: Ting and 媽咪’s Birthday Celebration (October 26th, 2008)!

Seafood with Bean Curd Casserole

For Mommy’s and Ting’s birthday celebration, I was left to choose, so I choose the restaurant I was most comfortable with, Full House. And the first thing I thought of when I got there was, “I’m craving a 豆腐煲! (Tofu Casserole)” So we ordered a 海鮮豆腐煲 (Seafood Tofu Casserole). But since we needed to get several dishes we also got the 清蒸鯇魚 (Steamed Carp Fish), 海參雞煲 (Sea Cucumber Chicken Casserole), 清炒豆苗 (Stir-fry Snow Pea Leaves), and a 籠仔糯米蒸大蟹 (Steamed Dungeness Crab with Sticky Rice). The Seafood Tofu Casserole was very satisfying, but maybe it was because I was craving fried tofu soaked in a really good sauce ^_^.

Steamed Carp

The Steamed Carp was alright, you can definitely taste the freshness of the fish, but I guess I wasn’t to thrilled about eating just a lightly steamed fish. But you would like this dish if you like simplicity.

Sea Cucumber Chicken Casserole

This is the Sea Cucumber Chicken Casserole, and one that my mom picked out. I actually don’t like eating sea cucumbers (considering that they are the giant worms of the sea). But this dish was gobbled up very quickly by those who like sea cucumbers, so if you like the sea slug, this dish might be for you.

Steamed Dungeness Crab with Sticky Rice

This is the Steamed Dungeness Crab with Sticky Rice. I love this dish. a bit on the oily side, because of the seasoned sticky rice, but I loved the freshness of this crab and the flavor it gave to the rice. I would definitely order this dish again if I get the chance to ^_^.

When got home, I unveiled the special birthday cake this year. We usually buy a Chinese cake every year, but this year, I wanted to make it different since Ting doesn’t like Chinese cakes.

Tiramisu Cake

Tada, A tiramisu cake! I bought this from an Italian bakery near my library. The ladyfingers were deliciously soft yet crispy, but they dolloped too much cream (maybe the cake was a bit uneven?). Lovely cake, one that Ting actually ate this year. But I wish they would lighten up on the cream next time. I would love to go back to the bakery again and see what else they have to offer.

Yay! I completed a post this month!
